Ages: Pre-K through 2nd grade 

Nutritional F.A.M.I.L.I.E.S. During the four-week workshop series, parents learn about nutritional literacy. Nutritional literacy provides the foundation for a healthy lifestyle for the participating families. Participating parents are provided with nutritional information and suggestions for increased physical activity. Topics covered in the workshops include: “What is Nutritional Literacy?” This session introduces parents to the concepts of nutritional literacy and media literacy. Participants learn about the impact the media has on their children. “Eating Right!” Parents learn about the importance of good nutrition. Participants will discuss the updated food pyramid and the alarming rise in the rate of childhood obesity. “Get Up and Move!” This session is designed to illustrate to parents the importance of keeping their children physically active. “Staying Healthy!” Topics covered include: Preventing Disease with Proper Germ Control Techniques, Vitamin Supplements, What to do When Your Child is Sick, and more.
